Jourdanton Little League Minutes April 14, 2004
The meeting was called to order at approximately 7:00 p.m.
Nine Board Members were present to include: Liesl Hons, Tricia Taylor, David Alviso, Sr., Rebecca Alviso, Rita Munoz, Sylvia Campos, Lee Roy Escobar, David Soward and Tammy Blalock.
Also in attendance was Mike Hurt (Major Indian’s Manager) and Carol and Gerald Bronstand (grandparents of Indian player).
Liesl advised those present that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the use of an illegal bat. The Protest Committee had already decided that there was no legal protest, but that the Board of Directors felt it was necessary to address the use of the illegal bat.
Mike Hurt described the events of the Indians vs. Giants game as he recalled them. Mike denied any knowledge of the use of the illegal bat and advised that the umpire did not check the equipment prior to the game.
Gerald Bronstad did not add any facts to the night of the game, but concluded that he felt this issue was resolved the night of the game when the bat was removed from the game. He also added that he does not understand the purpose of the meeting. He denied player’s knowledge that the bat was illegal and questioned the League’s authority to question this incident.
The Board of Directors entered into Executive Session at 7:24 p.m.
The Board of Directors resumed the regular meeting at 7:47 p.m. Tricia Motioned for Mike Hurt and the Indian player to receive a written letter of reprimand concerning the use of an illegal bat to remain in each respective Jourdanton Little League file for the remainder of the year and to be removed from same at that time. David A. 2nd. Motion carries by a two-thirds vote. Sylvia abstained from Motion.
Tricia Motioned to adjourn the meeting. David S. 2nd. Motion carried unanimously. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 7:50 p.m.
