Jourdanton Little League Minutes February 6, 2006
The meeting was called to order at approximately 7:08 p.m.
Thirteen Board Members were present to include: Liesl Hons, Rebecca Alviso, Rita Munoz, Oscar Munoz, David Soward, Jennifer Carrasco, Deanna Higginbotham, Gerald Zuhlke, Curtis Vickers, Melinda Ruiz, Orlando Carrasco , Eddie Carrasco and Tammy Blalock.
Curtis Motioned to accept the minutes from the January 24, 2006 meeting. Deanna 2nd. Motion carries unanimously.
Liesl advised that the bank signature card has been taken care of and Tammy has taken over as treasurer. Liesl provided a Financial Report as follows: Bank account stands at $10,344.81. No action taken.
Liesl advised that Wall’s was the only business to submit a uniform bid although others were solicited for. David S. Motioned to accept the uniform bid received from Wall’s. Curtis 2nd. Motion carries unanimously.
Liesl advised that two photograph bids were received: Portraits by Susan and Stendenbach’s. Discussion took place concerning the bids. Curtis Motioned to accept the photograph bid from Stendenbach’s. Jennifer 2nd. Motion carries unanimously.
Liesl recommended Mike Hurt as a major division baseball manager. David S. Motioned to accept the President’s recommendation. Curtis 2nd. Motion carries unanimously.
Liesl recommended Curtis Vickers and Keith Higginbotham as upper-minor division baseball managers. Gerald Motioned to accept the President’s recommendation. Deanna 2nd. Motion carries unanimously.
Liesl recommended Orlando Carrasco, Glenn Burgess, Joseph Meyer and Daymond Decker (if needed) as lower-minor division baseball managers. Curtis Motioned to accept the President’s recommendation. David S. 2nd. Motion carries unanimously.
Liesl recommended Oscar Munoz, Sean Casey and David Alviso, Jr. as tee-ball division baseball managers. Curtis Motioned to accept the President’s recommendation. Deanna 2nd. Motion carries unanimously.
Liesl recommended Tammy Blalock as a junior division softball manager. Curtis Motioned to accept the President’s recommendation. Jennifer 2nd. Tammy abstains. Rita opposed. Motion carries.
Liesl recommended Cody Baker and Rita Munoz as major division softball managers. Gerald Motioned to accept the President’s recommendation. Orlando 2nd. Rita abstains. Motion carries.
Liesl recommended Tricia Taylor as an upper-minor division softball manager. David S. Motioned to accept the President’s recommendation. Curtis 2nd. Motion carries unanimously.
Liesl recommended Brennan Klumb and Larry Romero as lower-minor division softball managers. Curtis Motioned to accept the President’s recommendation. Deanna 2nd. Motion carries unanimously.
Liesl advised that the manager’s meeting for March 7 immediately following our board meeting. She advised that the meeting would take place at the fields, weather permitting and that the Sheriff’s office court room would be the back up place for the meeting.
Liesl advised that the first day of practice would be March 20, 2006.
Liesl suggested trying to get pitching clinics set up for baseball and softball.
Rita advised that the try-out schedule would be as follows for February 25 and 26: from 1:30 to 2:30 pm – league ages 6 and 7; from 3:00 to 4:00 pm – league ages 8 through 10; from 4:30 to 5:30 pm – league ages 11 and 12. She also reminded everyone that anyone registering after February 26 would be subject to a waiting list and a $10 late registration fee.
Jennifer advised the board that Roger Cherry will put the item of JLL borrowing the bleachers from March 31 – May 31 on the Chamber’s next meeting’s agenda.
Orlando advised that the south field fence is up, dugouts to begin next, the fields have been aerated. Eddie advised that he would like to take down the high bleachers at the north field and add the top coil to each outfield fence for about $400, and that the concession stands still needed thresholds, countertops and that the microphones and speakers needed to be checked.
Liesl advised that there would be no option for managers to choose team names this year. She explained that this would make ordering uniforms easier. She advised that the junior baseball team would be the Indians, major baseball would be the Cleveland Indians and the Yankees, upper-minor baseball would be the Rangers and the Reds, lower–minor baseball would be the Astros, the Braves, the Diamondbacks and the A’s, and the tee-ball teams would be the Cubs, Angels, Marlins and Orioles, junior softball the Squaws, major softball would be the Lady Jaguars and the Firebirds, upper-minor softball would be the Red Hots and the Angels, lower-minor softball would be the Lady Bugs and the Stingers. Liesl also advised that she would assign a manager to the team rather than letting them pick which one they wanted.
Deanna reminded the board that she would like to be reimbursed $10 for attending the clinic in Hondo. Rita asked that she be reimbursed $20 for her and Oscar attending same.
The next meeting was set for March 7, 2006 with the managers’ meeting immediately following.
Curtis Motioned to adjourn. Deanna 2nd. Motion carries unanimously. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 9:02 p.m.
