On Tuesday night the Jourdanton upper minor division Astros defeated the Poteet Indians in Poteet 20-1. Roel Dillard was the winning pitcher improving his record to 6 and 0 on the year. Dillard struck out 11 Indian batters in 4 innings allowing only three base runners and giving up one hit. Dillard was 2 for 3 at the plate with a walk, two doubles and 3 RBI’s. Ricky Guerra had a double and a single and 2 RBI’s. Matthew Heritage was 1 for 1 and a walk and Sterling Bronstad was 2 for 3 with a walk, a single and a triple and 2 RBI’s. Isaiah Arispe, Guerra, and Will Soward all scored three runs for the Astros who improved their record to 6 – 1. The Jourdanton Red Hots of the upper minor softball continue dominate their division. The Red Hots defeated Poteet May 4th 23 – 8. Karley Taylor pitched three innings striking out nine and allowing 2 runs to get the win. Shelys Miranda and Jessica Eisenhauer each pitched an inning in relief to preserve the victory. On May 8th the Red Hots defeated the Pleasanton Giants 13 -2. Eisenhauer was the winning pitcher going three innings and striking out seven and allowing one run on an error. Taylor pitched the final inning recording three strikeouts and allowing a run on a walk. Taylor also scored three runs and Kendyl Estrada and Devin Kaiser each scored two runs for the Red Hots. The Red Hots moved to 10 & 0 on the year. On May 8th, the Jourdanton Major Division Baseball Red Sox defeated the Pleasanton Nationals 9 -2 in Jourdanton. No stats were provided by the team. On Friday, the Jourdanton Reds battled the Charlotte Titans in Jourdanton in the upper minor baseball division. I t was a very close game until the top of the 5th when the Titans scored three runs to take the lead for good and win 5 to 3. Nick Garcia and Zadock Dinkleman combined in the pitching effort for the Reds. Reds catcher Ian Hons hit an inside the park grand slam homerun that sailed over the right fielder’s head. Diego Huddleston had a single for the Reds and Garcia and Raymond Ruiz both scored runs.
