JLL Gears Up for 50th Year Anniversary
Jourdanton Little League has finalized all of their teams for the coming season from T-ball to the Major divisions as well as the Junior girls softball. Seventeen teams were formed after drafts that were held last week. The league is still seeking junior age boys (13 & 14) to round out a Junior Division baseball team, so if there are interested ball players please contact League President Tammy Blalock at 769-3155.
The league is quickly approaching the March 24th Opening Day date where they will be celebrating the 50th year of Jourdanton Little League which began playing ball in 1957. The day will start off with a 9:30 a.m. parade with the staging area being behind the Jourdanton Community Center. The parade should end shortly after 10:00 a.m. at the Little League fields on Highway 16 south. The first games will start at 11:00 a.m. after a opening ceremony including an aircraft fly over. Ball games will go on most of the day at both fields with the last games scheduled for 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. A fireworks display will light up the sky after dark to conclude the day's fanfare.
In addition the league is seeking any vintage photographs from any previous year involving a Jourdanton Little League team. If you have any please call the league president at the above phone number.
Calling all parents and grandparents of current Jourdanton Little Leaguers. Five dollar ads are now being sold for the future "Collectors Item" edition of the Opening Day Program. Ads such as "Have a Great Year Billy! Love Mom and Dad and Aunt Sue" will be sold for just $5.00 If interested please mail $5.00 and the requested text of the ad to Jourdanton Little League, P.O.
